A legend, that set dressage on fire with new records.

His competitive career was short. In 2005 under Netherland flag, Jiska van den Akker at World Breeding Championships rode “Moorland Totalis” for Young horses, as a 5yo. Beginning in 2006 Edward Gal rode Totalis through most of his career. The pair began to compete in 2008, setting new international records.

In July of 2009 GAL and Totalis broke the old world record in Grand Prix Freestyle with a score of 90.75%. FIRST TIME EVER, of a score more than 90%. In 2010 multiple records were broke. One of his most astonishing records was a score of 92.30% in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the FEI World Cup. More than 10 points above the 2nd places- finisher. As everyone watched you knew you were watching a legend dance across the dressage arena. They finished the season’s final World Cup with a win in GP Freestyle by 7 points and better than their first world record. The pair were the1st to win 3 gold metals at a single WEG.

It was about this time that Totalis, new official name, was sold to the German breeder Paul Schockemohl, for 11.2 million euros with expectations that Totalis would compete at 2012 Olympics. In 2011 Matthias Rath, his new rider, and Totalis assisted the German team to win a silver medal at European Dressage Championships in Rotterdam. Due to injuries that affected Totalis’s show career he was officially with drawn from competition in 2015.

Totalis’s breeding started to take off in 2009-10 with only 175 mares bred. To be bred to Totalis, the mare had to be approved by the owners: pedigree, conformation, pictures history, etc… WinnythepoohJSF “Riverite’ ” was APPROVED to be bred to Totalis.

Totalis died Dec 14, 2020 of colic.
